This August I was lucky enough to take my annual trip to St.Lucia with my family. My family is split between England, Ireland, Botswana and now Australia, so catching up on this holiday is always special to see everyone again.
After a couple of stressful weeks in London I was also super ready for a holiday. Luckily enough for me, Windjammer Landing is a great place to unwind and even luckier, they kindly offered me a complimentary signature massage in their amazing new spa.
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw how deluxe it was…
“Experience our signature massage therapy ritual designed to restore energy, equilibrium and vitality. The ritual begins with our hand and foot scrub followed by a hand wash and foot bath ritual. Rain therapy droplets of our custom, all-natural, essential oil blend of bergamot, grapefruit, lavender and sandalwood will be passed down the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral vertebrae of the spine. Warmed bamboo and polished stones will be woven throughout this full body massage that will conclude with a 16-point acupressure facial massage. Signature Beverage Pairing included.”
I must admit, I was a little bit hungover in the morning after the weekly cocktail party the evening before (it’s all about the balance right)…. Anyway my hangover was quickly forgotten about as my treatment began! I was given a cosy dressing gown and slippers before having a little tour of the new spa. I loved how each treatment room was named after a different bay on the island! The particular one “Dauphin” was special to me- it’s actually my boyfriends middle name and he grew up on the island.
The treatment itself was incredibly relaxing. It was a wonderful mix of relaxation and getting those knots of out my shoulders and legs!! The masseuse made me laugh when she reached my shoulders and said, “your shoulders are like rocks!”. I almost fell asleep when we got to the facial, it was absolute bliss.
The signature beverage was also delicious, with loads of natural blends including the soursop fruit which has tones of health benefits including, anti-inflammatory, antioxidants, pain relief, gastrointestinal and has even been suggested to prevent cancer.
TIP: Your body will be dehydrated after a massage so it’s really important to consume loads of water afterwards!
My body felt incredibly replenished after the treatment and my mind was in a true state of peacefulness- similarly to when I practise yoga, the massage had allowed me to remove any negative thoughts or stressors from my mind whilst the masseuse worked to remove any built up tension in my body. Allowing both of these things to happen is such a key part of our health, and if your body isn’t quite up to yoga or you’re not into meditation, then I highly recommend you treat yourself to a massage.
To any of you staying at Windjammer Landing- try and get yourself to the spa! You won’t regret it.
Thanks again to Windjammer Landing for such a lovely morning.
